Aluz Clean Energy plc. (Aluz) was founded in August 2007 by Enrique Herrera and Bjorn Carlson, in order to invest in renewable energy in the Peruvian and Chilean markets. The controlling shareholder of Aluz is Grupo Panamerican, through Emerging Energy S.A., a subsidiary.Panamerican owns and operates power plants since 2002, when it acquired its first energy generating assets in Bolivia from Constellation Power, Covanta Energy and Pennsylvania Power and Light.Aluz, through its subsidiaries in Peru, is the controlling shareholder and operator of Langui 6 MW and of Potrero 20 MW; both hydroelectric plants with expansion projects, either in construction or in development.During the past few years, Aluz has developed 9 hydroelectric projects totaling over 100 MW, 7 in Peru and 2 in Chile. Of the 9 developed projects, 2 have been sold to third parties: Pizarras 20 MW and San Lorenzo 6 MW, both in Peru.
