Ausangate Socks provides socks manufactured with alpaca yarn blends using state-of-the-art manufacturing knitting machines and technologies.Ausangate Socks has chosen alpaca fiber in their sock manufacturing for the superior qualities of alpaca fiber. Alpaca yarn is naturally lanolin-free, therefore, hypoallergenic, lightweight, naturally has a higher tensile strength which makes socks knit with alpaca yarn stronger than socks manufactured with other fibers. The company name, Ausangate Socks, was inspired by the majestic Ausangate Mountain located in the mountain range of Cordillera Vilcanota, southeast of Cuzco, Peru. It is said that Mother Nature appeared at Ausangate Mountain with a gift to the ancient Incas. The gift was the alpaca. Ancient Inca legend tells us that Mother Nature indicated that the alpacas were to be treated humanely, a practice that continues to this day in the Andean alpaca herding communities.
