Founded in 2018 by Rafael Beltre and Ana Diaz, De Lo Mio (an endearment term which loosely translates into ‘One of Mine' in local slang), is a non-profit organization that provides school supplies/living essentials to underprivileged kids in the Dominican Republic.De Lo Mio, is actively involved with helping young boys and girls, youths as well as vulnerable street children in the Dominican Republic through various activities targeted at improving the overall quality of education they receive in a bid to secure their future and enable them to make sound decisions in life. Although founded in 2018, its founders have always been involved with similar donations since 2011. They have continued to work relentlessly and tirelessly ever since to reach out to the needs of the poor and needy in the society.Rafael Beltre, being a first generation immigrant of Dominican decent, took it upon himself to impact positive change and better the lives of young kids who are born in a part of the world having the most underperforming educational system and consistently maintaining a position amongst the least countries worldwide. This is a place where teachers lack the basic resources for teaching, classrooms are overpopulated with a capacity more than it was built to carry. A place where children are encouraged to work after completing only below 60% of their primary school education. All this and more are what De Lo Mio strives to correct, all at no personal gain.
