Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts, was founded in April 2020 as a direct response to the coronavirus crisis. Their aim is to provide local residents with safe access to healthy food.The Leith-based organisation is run entirely by volunteers, including over 30 out-of-work chefs. They rescue surplus food which would otherwise to go waste and transform it into free, healthy meals for anyone who needs a hand.Day Packs of breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack are delivered daily to the doors of those in need. They also offer two daily hot food services on-site, serving around 150 walk-in guests every day.
