The International Centre for Minimal Access Surgery (ICMAS), an ultramodern state of the art Day Surgery unit, opened its facility in Nairobi on the 7th of January 2011 and is now regarded as the leading institution in Africa for Minimal Access Surgery. The Centre aims to encourage and promote Minimal Access Surgery in Africa, by providing a high quality service delivery, and to conduct regular and sustained training for Surgeons and support staff in the region. To date we have performed close to 1000 operative procedures, mainly as day cases, and conducted over 50 dedicated workshops. We have trained surgeons from Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, S. Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda and are catering for huge volumes of patients from East and Central Africa region. Being passionate about the community we serve, the team at ICMAS is constantly engaged in community investments that focus on sustainable health. Annually, our team of doctors dedicates an entire week, also known as Week of Wonders through the Mombasa Round Table, to perform major and various surgeries in rural coastal regions.
