The Maine Collaborative Law Alliance is an organization comprised of professionals trained in the area of Collaborative Law. Collaborative professionals include lawyers, financial specialists and coaches. The MCLA holds quarterly meetings to discuss issues specific to Collaborative Law as well as offers training in Introductory and Advanced Collaborative practice.Collaborative Law is a respectful and cost-effective alternative to traditional litigation. It is used all over the world to settle family and business disputes, and is most commonly used in divorce. The Collaborative process begins with each party choosing a collaboratively trained attorney to represent their individual positions. Then a financial neutral and a coach neutral join with the divorcing couple and their attorneys to construct a divorce plan that best serves both parties and any children.
