meinSchulprojekt brings the world into schools, introducing native speakers with unique cultural backgrounds, skills and dialects. We conduct intensive language projects in small groups with an average class size, in schools, of 12 to 18 students. Usually, the students are in at least the 6th grade and will ideally already have had two years of instruction in the target language. Generally our projects take place during regular school hours. The projects are based on the concept of full immersion using the processability theory, meaning the native speakers use only the target language in class. Each element of the project has to be negotiated in the target language from the very outset, so that the students' confidence and linguistic repertoire (vocabulary and grammar) grow continuously throughout the project. The aim is for students to speak the target language 80% of the time during lessons. On the final day of the project it's normal for each class to perform a small pre-planned presentation to fellow students, teachers, parents and invited press in order to demonstrate how much progress they have made during the project. It is always a pleasure to see how much their confidence and ability to speak the target language has improved in just one week. Our Key Goals are:- To inspire students to actively and intuitively speak the target language- To introduce students to the joy of learning- To lead in innovative project -based learning for schools
