Founded in 2003, Motéma Music is a forward-leaning, multi-Grammy®-nominated Harlem-based record label specializing in jazz, world and other creative music. Notable label artists include the rising soul-jazz vocalist Gregory Porter, NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston, jazz/reggae legend Monty Alexander, NAACP Image Award nominee Geri Allen, Rene Marie, David Murray, Rufus Reid, Marc Cary and many other rising and internationally-renowned artists. The label champions composers/artists with a fierce independent vision, and it is on the rise in the jazz and independent music community.Our small, friendly, hard-working and innovative team operates out of a lovely floor-through office in a newly-renovated brownstone in an up-and-coming section of Harlem that is close to Metro North as well as to the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 trains.
