For many years there has been much noise made within Rugby League circles for action to be taken to expand the game state-side and get wheels in motion to grow the game (mostly loved by the northern cities of the UK and the east coast of Australia). Well, THE TIME IS NOW and 2021 will see the inaugural season of the NARL kick-off on 19th June in Brooklyn. New York Freedom is co-owned and coached by USA International, twice World Cup Captain, and highly experienced player, Mark Offerdahl. Mark loves the game and has been playing an active part in getting things moving in the US for many years now. Although Aussie born, he holds a dual heritage but his affiliation with America has always been strong.The New York Freedom squad will be made up of highly experienced NFL and Super League players such as Tony Williams, Rory Humphreys as well as Mark who is set to play as well as coach, and less experienced local players eager to learn. The NARL has the world's eyes upon them, this is the biggest thing to happen in this sport for a very long time. We are extremely excited to be a part of this and to be a part of it from the off-set. The vision is for NARL to be as big as the NRL / Super League one day, and for Rugby League as a sport to be considered as readily as basketball, football, and baseball in the USA.
