Nova Coal Solutions sells Suez Water Technologies' CoalPlus Antioxidant and Dust Suppression treatment chemicals in Indonesia. These products retard the oxidation process and reduce self-heating of low rank sub-bituminous coals that are often mined in Indonesia. This increases the shelf-life of treated coal in the stockpile by 3-4 times over untreated coal. It also reduces the occurances of spontaneous combustion by 85%. This allows the coal producer to sell a more stable and higher quality product to their customer. Suez's proprietary foam application system uses 90% less water than the typical dust surfactants use which preserves calorific value and improves coal handling. By reducing spontaneous combustion in coal stockpiles, the CoalPlus products are creating a cleaner environment by reducing the amount of noxious pollutants such as sulfuric acid and nitrogen dioxide oxide being emitted into the atmosphere.
