In 2011, Building One Community - The Center for Immigrant Opportunity (formerly Neighbors Link Stamford) opened its doors to become a welcoming point of entry for newcomers from all parts of the world. B1C's mission is to bring passionate people together to help immigrants and their families succeed in the community. We engage the community in our work and in ongoing dialogue about the benefits and challenges immigrants bring to our community. In less than 6 years, we have helped over 6,000 immigrants from 55 different countries. Our programs span several areas of primary importance: -English as a Second Language instruction-Job skills training in key fields-Family and individual support services-Community engagementOur vision is one community in which all immigrants are active, contributing members and where we apply our knowledge and experience to inform immigration policy at all levels. B1C delivers compassionate service to make all immigrants feel welcome and to enrich the entire community.
