National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) of the Central Mississippi Area. Incorporated is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Ridgeland, MS. Since 1949, NCADD continues to believe in the concept of drug addiction as a treatable disease, rather than a moral failing. We provide educational materials and information that are in line with this belief. NCADD serves as a resource for those seeking answers for themselves and/or their loved ones. Our service area includes all of Central Mississippi, and we refer out to treatment and recovery services all over the state. NCADD aspires to make a real difference in the state through partnerships, coalitions, and collaborative projects. NCADD's mission is to increase awareness about the devastating effects of alcoholism and drug dependence on the individual, family, and community. NCADD aids in the opportunity for prevention, treatment, and recovery through information, education, and support. NCADD stands firm on 3 Pillars. The 3 Pillars represent the three areas of focus we strive to deliver to those that need it most: Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery. In the area of Prevention, NCADD delivers educational inventions/programs and trainings to children, adolescents, young adults, educators, and professionals across the state on life skills and the dangers of drugs and alcohol as well as strategies to avoid them altogether. In the area of Treatment, NCADD directs hundreds of people every year seeking help to the appropriate services based on their needs. NCADD encourages individuals and families to take advantage of the free initial consultation services to steer them in the right direction (residential, outpatient, detox, etc.). NCADD focuses on the individual as a "whole" person and offer an array of ancillary services to enhance treatment success. In the area of Recovery, NCADD is a resource for those looking for support groups and other addiction recovery groups across the state. NCADD also host weekly Nar-Anon meetings for relatives and friends who are concerned about the addiction or drug problem of another. Our Recovery bookstore supplies gives those in recovery and local treatment centers the opportunity to find the encouragement and support they need with books and gifts that inspire lifelong recovery and personal growth.
