The history of Shirokiya dates back to 1662 in Nihonbashidori, Edo (currently known as Tokyo) and on October 29, 1959, the first branch of Shirokiya outside of Japan was opened in Hawaii's world-renowned Ala Moana Shopping Center. Another branch store was opened in the Kaahumanu Shopping Center on Maui, in November 1973 and on April 2, 1981, a third Shirokiya store opened in Phase I of the Pearlridge Shopping Center.Now locally owned, Shirokiya in the Ala Moana Shopping Center continues to offer the finest quality Japanese merchandise to local as well as visiting shoppers. Through the years Shirokiya has become very much a part of the cultural community of Hawaii and we are very grateful for the show of support the people of Hawaii has given us during the changing times.Vintage Cave is the brainchild of Japanese developer Takeshi Sekiguchi.
