School of Service began in 1971, and has grown steadily since, evolving into the thriving Access Arts program of today. Our mission is to provide creative learning experiences for everyone. We offer instruction in a variety of art media, with an emphasis on serving those who are underserved. From the beginner to the advanced artist, all are welcome in our studios.We pursue this mission in various ways, in order to reach as many as possible. Some of these ways include:• More than 200 classes scheduled weekly throughout the year in a range of media, including clay, fibers, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and jewelry-making• Programs for people of all ages, financial circumstances, ability levels, and backgrounds• Scholarships or fee subsidies for those otherwise unable to attend classes due to financial hardship• Multiple workshops offered throughout the year, at our facilities and other locations throughout the community• Free art demonstrations at area events and local art festivals• Summer Camp and School's Out Programs for school-age children• Accessible studios and specialized equipment for those with special needs
