Footpath's mission is to connect kids with nature to develop personal growth and improve access to the natural world.Research shows that this generation of children is spending less time outside than ever before. Inner city kids have even bigger challenges preventing them from getting out in nature and exploring freely. Access to green spaces enhances peace, self-control, and self-discipline within inner city youth (Taylor, Kuo & Sullivan Study, 2001). Nature is crucial to children's development in every way and enhances creativity, problem solving and social skills. By sending at-risk kids to summer camp and other outdoor adventures, they engage in an array of outdoor activities that cultivate the whole child and empowers them to thrive. The program works with other nonprofits to connect children in need with local outdoor spaces and summer camps. Footpath raises the funds necessary to send these kids to various camps and helps to coordinate inspiring programs. In addition, Footpath educates and advocates to communities and corporations about the challenges at-risk children face each day and the importance of nature in their lives. Footpath Foundation is an IRS designated 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation (Tax ID: 47-5560117) in good standing since the effective date of exemption, November 5, 2015, co-founded by Mary Macias and Sarah Tabeling.
