Andata in Italian means the way forward. We find this by reëxamining our modes of inquiry — wielding design as a critical lens for systems and society; using techniques like machine learning to tease new insights from a growing treasure-trove of data; and elevating discourse by championing open access to information.I believe the best means — the best way forward — is to build the future's tools on the modern web. Andata represents my creative output, working by myself or alongside select partners and agencies. My designs focus on the promotion of discovery through information architecture and layout, as well as the thoughtful use of typography and interaction to achieve semiotic clarity. The tools I build include websites and apps for forward-thinking companies, data visualizations that tell stories, and interactive information repositories.Additionally, I am proud to support organizations that share this vision for the future, whether through pro-bono work and consulting, joint ventures, or financial backing. Some examples include the edPolicy Center at The University of Alabama, The Rural Community College Alliance, and a handful of open-source software foundations.
