University of Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) is the development of the Institute of Teaching Training and Education (IKIP) Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The Institute of Teaching Training and Education (IKIP) Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta as a Higher Education Institution was the development of Jakarta Muhammadiyah's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) based in Yogyakarta, which was established on November 18, 1960. FKIP Muhamadiyah course was the continuation of BI Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta in 1957. The course had a BI Sciences Department, Civic Law and Economics then.\On 19 December 1994 with the decree (SK)of Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 102 / D0/1994 it was determined that IKIP Muhamadiyah Yogyakarta was changed into Ahmad Dahlan University.
