NAHUC is a non-profit membership association for Health Unit Coordinators governed by a volunteer board of directors. Health Unit Coordinators are the professional, non-clinical members of the health care team. They serve at the hub of activity in critical care units, emergency departments, inpatient units and outpatient services. They ensure that the needs of patients, families, visitors and staff are attended to in a timely and professional manner.NAHUC's mission is to promote health unit coordinating as a profession through education and certification, complying with the NAHUC Standards of Practice, Standards of Education, and Code of Ethics. The NAHUC Certification Board offers a nationally administered comprehensive job-related objective examination and the NAHUC Education Board offers a variety of continuing education opportunities.Since 1980, NAHUC has been providing opportunities for education, networking, support, and the development of leadership skills. NAHUC membership is open to all involved in the profession of health unit coordinating: students, practitioners, educators, managers, and administrators.
