Special Education Teacher at Haas Hall Primary Academy - Fayetteville, Arkansas, United States
Two Hemispheres CollideSince our inception in 2004, I have often been asked, "When are you going to open an elementary school?" and I believe that now is the time to answer the call to begin building a new community of younger learners. Haas Hall Academy will be seeking to provide a complete K-12 experience beginning in August 2021.On each of our four campuses, scholars often enter the 7th grade unprepared for the rigor of the accelerated, college-preparatory curriculum Haas Hall Academy is known for. Our faculty dedicates time teaching and re-teaching skills necessary for success in high school and ultimately, college. We feel the solution to this is earlier focus on turning today's learners into tomorrow's scholars. In the fall of 2018, two faculty leaders, participated in New Zealand: A Learning Journey. The goal of this immersive experience was to facilitate observation of successful schools in New Zealand, a country known for its high standards and success rates in education. Their findings were the catalyst in our decision to move forward on developing a Pre-K–6th learning environment. We plan to open Haas Hall Primary Academy (PreK-6) in the fall of 2021 (Pending approval from the State Charter Authorizing Panel and the Arkansas State Board of Education). This hybrid institution will deliver a fresh new approach to Pre-K–6th learning by incorporating the concepts, programs, and strategies of the successful models observed in New Zealand with the accelerated curriculum and high standards of Haas Hall Academy. The institution will also serve as a live educational resource and learning incubator for schools looking to integrate the successful educational models from New Zealand and Haas Hall Academy through shared interactive learning experiences. Haas Hall Primary Academy will become an international learning model for students, parents, communities, and corporations and will improve education standards in Northwest Arkansas and beyond.I hope your family will take the leap with us as we begin this next chapter. Together we can make a lasting impact in the lives and minds of the youngest learners. Dr. Martin W. Schoppmeyer, Jr.Founder and SuperintendentHaas Hall Academy & Haas Hall Primary Academy
