Maryland NOW works within the State of Maryland to further the purposes and policies of the National Organization for Women through the coordination of chapter efforts and statewide functions and actions.Since its founding in 1966, NOW's main goal has been to take action to bring about equality for all women. To that end, NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society. NOW aims to secure reproductive justice for all residents of the United States, no matter their residence location or citizenship status, including abortion and birth control. We fight to end all forms of violence against women, and to eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia. NOW promotes equality and justice in our society. We are about EQUALITY FOR ALL – equal opportunity and equitable treatment.Maryland NOW was formed in 1973 to advance the mission of NOW within Maryland by taking actions and coordinating efforts. Numerous achievements have been made on a wide range of feminist issues. We have recently been notably successful in working in coalition with other women's organizations to effect legislative change. This is testament to the outstanding commitment of both Maryland NOW's leadership and active membership. Please join us!
