ORA is a UK registered charity, whose charitable objective is "to advance, improve, develop and maintain the public education in, and appreciation of, the Arts, in particular choral music by the presentation of concerts and recordings, the commissioning of composers and the support of young musicians." ORA is all about commissioning new works, celebrating composers and creating music that will last for generations to come. To date, ORA has commissioned over 32 living composers and recorded over 6 albums worth of repertoire. In our commissions, we ask composers of the present day to reflect on masterpieces from the past, the first 'Golden Age' which was the Renaissance Period. We believe we are now entering a second 'Golden Age' of choral music, and to celebrate this we approach the world best artists to commission, create, record and perform these works. We believe that there is no other vocal group that is currently commissioning at this rate and we have a primary aim of 100 new commissions by 100 contemporary composers within the next 10 years.
