1 $ Wiser Consumer Education, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower individuals to take positive control of their personal finances and learn fiscal responsibility through consumer and credit education and counseling. We have provided personal financial education and counseling to tens of thousands of individuals across the country. In response to client requests and market needs, we are introducing a new program entitled Know Before You Owe – Student Loans. 1 $ Wiser is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Chairman of the Board - Jason Labrum is 1 $ Wiser's Energizer Bunny™. He keeps us "going and going and going" with his perpetual smile and infectious optimistic outlook. Under Jason's leadership 1 $ Wiser has cut costs, streamlined processes and procedures, made better use of technology, and added new funding channels. Treasurer - Brad Andrus draws from his years in banking and investing to apply his Midas' touch to 1$Wiser's financial resources.Director - Michael Savoie: As a member of our Board of Directors, Dr. Michael J. Savoie has been instrumental in helping 1 $ Wiser fulfill its mission of providing quality & timely financial literacy education to individuals in all walks of life. He has helped us form strategic public private partnerships with federal, state, & local governments, multinational corporations, educational institutions, & professional services providers. .Director - Janet L. Gabbert is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, and Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor. Since her retirement from the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, Janet has revised 1 $ Wiser's Policy & Procedure Manual and developed a comprehensive training program for our counselors. Integral in the counselor training is the issue of ethics in digital counseling while developing client trust without compromising compliance to the Federal rules and regulations by which we are governed.
