100 Help the Homeless is a peer led Belfast based charity run solely by volunteers to serve Northern Ireland's most vulnerable homeless. (Registered Charity Number: NIC100203) It started off in early 2014 when a group of four individuals formed the idea of creating a platform for a large group of volunteers to come together to highlight the issue of homelessness, particularly in raising funds and awareness to enable support for Belfast's most vulnerable adults. We identified that a large number of people had a willingness to help the homeless in some way but lacked direction in how to do so. We held our launch on 12th January 2014 with a great turn out at Queen's University Belfast Students' Union. Our support soon grew and the overwhelming support made us realise that we had potential to make a serious impact and so what started as a small community group is now a fully registered charity accumulating new volunteers each week, we are huge believers in the premise "many hands make light work" To date we have succeeded in putting homelessness in the spotlight with some very successful events including a 24 hour sleepout at Belfast City Hall, bucket collections in Belfast City Centre and extensive media coverage with the involvement of homeless service users and local Councillors. Our current aim is to open an inclusive, city centre based respite service, unfortunately we are keeping tight lipped over the next few weeks while we finalise some intricate planning details however we know that 2014-15 is going to be a very big year for us and a real difference is going to be made. We have a number of exciting fundraisers planned, to keep up to date and for more information visit our ‘Upcoming Events' page on our website.
