1623 Capital LLC was founded in 2018 by Jeff Fischer and Brian Richards, the Firm's Chief Investment Officer and Chief Operating Officer, respectively. As the lead portfolio manager of the firm's Flagship fund, the 1623 Pro Fund, Jeff and his investment team run a high-conviction fundamental long/short equity strategy. The Firm's name, 1623 Capital, alludes to the year that Shakespeare's First Folio was published, bringing to the world, and immortalizing for history, 18 of Shakespeare's plays that had never before been published.The First Folio was published ad hoc by a group of Shakespeare's friends who recognized, shortly after The Bard's death, that his plays were being lost to time. With determination and ingenuity, and the wit to run against the conventions of the times, a band of individuals scraped up the money to pay for the considerable cost of publishing 900 pages of text – displaying incredible foresight in an age when most people couldn't read. The name 1623 pays homage to the persistence of the cadre that saved and gifted Shakespeare's invaluable work, without whom, the world may never have come to know his work. 1623 Capital is a team of investment professionals headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.
