1984 is an augmented reality development studio. We work with clients big and small to build the AR future. Our work focuses on Swift, ARKit, and RealityKit to build for iOS and iPadOS.Our technology wins awards, drives business, and sparks imaginations.Recent clients & work include:MOZILLA1984 worked with Mozilla to develop the first WebXR browser for iOS. The browser (available on the App Store as "WebXR Viewer") is an open-source project available here: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/webxr-iosDevelopment of WebXR Viewer utilized Swift, ARKit, and Metal. We worked with Mozilla's Mixed Reality team within their Emerging Technologies (R&D) division. Highlights include:- Coded a Metal rendering engine which drastically improved AR performance and reduced jitter.- Designed and built product features with privacy and ethical design as the primary objectives. AR already has bad actors trying to map people's homes (amongst other things), so it's important to make purposeful, principled design decisions now while the technology is nascent.- Translated tens of thousands of lines of code from Objective-C to Swift.ISCAPE1984 worked with the founder of iScape to develop a persistent world, collaborative, multiuser AR version of their landscaping app. The app was handpicked by Apple as an exemplary AR experience and demonstrated by Apple CEO Tim Cook on HBO. Our work for iScape was also featured at WWDC 2019.Highlights include:- Built a shared-world, multiuser experience using ARKit and SceneKit.- Developed an AR interface to allow user creation of custom, planar geometries for visualizing new textures and surfaces in the user's environment.HILLSIDE SOFTWARE1984 worked directly with the founder of Hillside Software to create an art and interior design visualization tool using ARKit and SceneKit. What we built won the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) 2019 Global Innovation Award.
