2nd Hand is a not-for-profit organization. Our objective is to match donated items and volunteers with the needs of Social Welfare Organizations and Charities, to support their cause and beneficiaries. Our hope is to find ways to address the needs of the most marginalized in Hong Kong. These include those who live on the street or in 'cage homes', the ‘cardboard grannies', migrants, all those who need not only food and clothes, but integration into society as, for example, those who are released from prison. In the process, we help foster social inclusion and equality in a way often ignored when people talk about diversity and inclusion and ultimately help build better societies. We pursue this common good in a way that not only respects human dignity, but allows it to flourish. On this basis, 2nd Hand's focus will be on projects of sharing and of service to the least recognised in society. We aim to be operators of intellectual charity that offers unique and indispensable contributions to the renewal of society.In our first initiative, 2nd Hand aims to help social welfare organisations and those in need by reducing the time it takes to obtain a donated item which ultimately save on costs by cutting down on purchases for these items for the charities and their beneficiaries. The process is efficient, effective, fuss-free and fulfilling for both donors and beneficiaries as it capitalises on the operating model of a sharing economy like an Uber or Airbnb.As a result, ordinary people and society can contribute and benefit as a whole.By coming to meet these social poverties, we are capitalising on constructive actions which also oppose the culture of hedonism and waste.Progressively, we will go against the current but in the only direction that builds a brighter future for the people of Hong Kong.Please join us.https://www.2ndhandhk.org
