The 308th Civil Affairs Brigade headquarters (HQ) unit is located in Homewood, IL (Chicago) and is a compromised of about 100 soldiers at the HQ. The 308th BDE Headquarters has command and control over (4) battalion commands located in (4) states: Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri and Minnesota consisting of about 800 total Soldiers.Civil affairs soldiers train to provide battlefield civil reconnaissance, conduct civilian engagement activities, manage host nation civil information, maintain civil-military operations centers and provide non-lethal effects of influence by gaining civilian support, and by minimizing negative civilian impacts to military operations.
