5G Productions consists of music producer and audio engineers J.J. Brown and Dan "The Deacon" Maier. Their business partnership began as a friendship, when the two met teenagers playing drums in their junior high band. Through their formative years, it was a fascination with not only the performance of music, but the production of it, that planted the seed for what is now urban music powerhouse 5G Productions.5G gained worldwide acclaim through a series of projects for which they coined the term "Match-Up". A "Match-Up" album pairs acapellas from a current artist with the entire catalog of a band from yesteryear. Their most highly regarded project, pairing Ludacris with the Jackson 5 for "Re-Release Therapy" lead to a studio-produced outing with Gym Class Heroes and Hall & Oates.
