If you look at a world map and locate 78 degrees longitude, what do you see? Some see a geography lesson, but at 78 Degrees West, we see a journey. That journey starts right here in Charleston, SC where you can find delicious Southern cooking complete with fried chicken and tasty barbecue. If you travel south along that line, you will come across the Bahamas, which is where owner Steve Grimes' father won a fishing tournament back in 1988. The flavors of food in the Bahamas are exciting and fresh. Where else will you find such succulent conch? Not far from there you will find Cuba, which has had a great influence over the city of Miami. Steve grew up in Miami and loves the flavors that are associated with Cuba, including the tropical fruit and of course the Mojo Pork. There is one final stop on 78 Degrees West's journey, and that is wonderful Jamaica. The jerk spiced food is something that you can't experience anywhere else in the world. The combination of spices including allspice, cinnamon, cumin, cloves and pepper flakes make a spicy yet sweet mixture that pairs perfectly with chicken, shrimp and more.
