Our school is a community school established by socially active parent initiative with a new humanistic approach in education. The school has been inspired by foreign language teachers and former exchange students with a positive experience in European democracy. We consider to undergo a transformation in Latvian educational system which could be called a paradigm shift. In our understanding it should be a new conception of the meaning and purpose of education that can be described as "holistic" - where each individual understand themselves more fully - as physical, emotional, mental and spiritual being and is integrated in the matters of life. The specific needs from the staff woking with us includes understanding and implementing reform education and alternative learning methods - such as M. Montessori, Jena Plan and others.
