A Band Called Wanda are an enigmatic, energetic quartet from Galway in the west of Ireland. Influenced by classic songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, The Beatles, Leonard Cohen and The Band, A Band Called Wanda have created their own blend of Folk'n'Roll. Expanding upon the standard four-piece arrangement of drums, bass and guitars, they have incorporated fiddles, brass, woodwind and anything at hand to kick their feet from the fixed bar room table and entertain the masses with their all-singing, multi-instrumental display of musical chairs.Upon leaving the band's hometown of Galway to hone their skills in the wilderness of Mayo, they returned from the crossroads with a triumphant show on the main stage at The Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Galway. The following months have seen them play alongside such renowned acts as The Hothouse Flowers, Alabama 3 and The Saw Doctors but to name a few. The band have also set out on a musical odyssey, visiting towns, villages and homes in the West of Ireland to rekindle old friendships and begin ones anew with regular appearances in Balla, Kiltimagh, Ballaghadereen and Lahinch. Their residency in Galway's Bar No.8 is not to be missed.Having developed a uniquely recognizable sound, A Band Called Wanda manage to maintain distinct originality through their vast array of songs. A Band Called Wanda remain focused on writing honestly while using their collective experiences to expand their musical horizons.
