Civic & Social Organization - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
A simple and sustainable idea connecting local restaurants and businesses to bring joyful experiences to hundreds of vulnerable people by doing what they do best… preparing and serving beautiful food! A Beautiful Food Experience connects local businesses, brings joy to people's lives, creates volunteering opportunities and engages local community services to invite people who would otherwise not have the chance to experience sharing food and conversation in a safe and inviting space. Every day thousands of us go to cafes and restaurants to share delicious food, conversations and to feel connected, but for many this simple joy is beyond their means because of all sorts of life circumstances. Whether its ageing, isolation, homelessness, mental or physical health issues, language barriers or sole parenting, we started this project, because we reckon everyone deserves to have A Beautiful Food Experience. Knowing there is a table where you are welcome and safe and people who want to cook for you and serve you, a place where you can share conversation and and feel part of the community... we all deserve to feel like that... We currently coordinate a free monthly lunch for up to 100 people from local community services across the City of Port Phillip thanks to the generous efforts of 5 restaurants located at South Melbourne Market: Köy Restaurant, Claypots Evening Star, Paco y Lola, Simply Spanish and Bambu. Our vision is to grow and replicate this model in many local communities. Wherever there are restaurants we can connect and people needing some joy in their lives, we're sure A Beautiful Food Experience can and will thrive...If you'd like to volunteer or run restaurant or business that would like to take part please contact us Community Engagement Coordinator: alischa@abeautifulfoodexperience.com.au
