In a smaller and somewhat rural community such as Clarington, the obstacles facing creating artists are huge. A Gift of Art is a co-operative, formed of many artists, from varying disciplines, from pastels to pottery; from folk art to felting; from carvings to classes and canvasses in oils. This gathering place displays their works, sells their creations, exhibits their artistic gifts and passes on their acquired knowledge.Individually, it would not be possible to reach larger audiences, set up a gallery/store and teaching facility, but together, as a co-operative, combining all their skills and demonstrating all their talents, these artists have established a welcoming venue where they may retail their work.Guest artists are welcomed, and master classes will help develop further abilities and support growth to newer directions. With the chance to teach, comes the responsibility to encourage other developing artists. Programs such as Artists – The Next Generation are a central part of the co-operatives philosophy.
