A Purple Tie Affair, Inc. is an All-Volunteer initiative started in 2013 to increase awareness of the local challenges against cancer through an annual "Celebration of Life." Throughout the year, it's volunteers encourage anyone to consider being trained and completing a "bucketlist" sports endurance event in exchange for fundraising while you train. It "gives back" in a way that leverages their own individual network while possibly honoring a friend or family member in the fight, in remission, or who have earned their angels wings already. Proceeds provide annual financial assistance to local cancer families for expenses incurred as a result of cancer treatment while funding the very latest treatments. We support Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation for Pediatric Cancer (donating over $700,000 locally since 2009). We also support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (who in the last fiscal year provided $500,341 of financial assistance to 556 local patients). For 2020, our new venue is among the Warbirds and aviation backdrop of The Hangar at 743 with a unique VIP Balcony experience. For 5 years, the all-volunteer A Purple Tie Affair event has provided: • 4+ hours of "Celebrating Life" to the awesome music of The Accents Band • Sponsored attendance of patient families • Hallway of Hope & Remembrance honoring local patients • Pre-event Cocktail reception and VIP reception for sponsors & honored patients • Recruitment of individuals and corporate teams to LLS' Team in Training sports endurance programThere are many events in the Capital Region for many worthy causes. What sets Purple Tie apart is its primary focus on creating an affordable celebration experience. The unforgettable and magical night offers a light but meaningful program. It's an evening filled with celebration and why so many return for the experience.
