A Shared Vision is a 501(c)(3) Colorado non-profit organization that provides early intervention vision services to families of children, from birth to age three, who are blind or visually impaired. Our goal is to ensure that all families of children with visual impairments receive essential early intervention services specific to blindness, deaf-blindness, visual impairment or vision concerns from a community of highly skilled and collaborative professionals. Formed in 2016, A Shared Vision began with a group of dedicated Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) who realized that parents and caregivers of very young children who are blind, visually impaired or have general vision concerns were not receiving essential early intervention services. Today, A Shared Vision is the leading provider of early intervention vision services in Colorado made possible through partnerships with local Community Centered Boards (CCBs) representing 84% of Colorado's population. A Shared Vision's team of experienced and caring professionals addresses the full spectrum of early intervention vision needs, including home-based and natural environment visits, specialty co-visits, hospital visits and consultation services for in-patient children, and support during ophthalmology appointments. They conduct and support Family Assessments, Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) and transition support from Part C to Part B. Additionally, A Shared Vision provides transdisciplinary team meetings, professional development trainings and presentations in pediatric blindness and visual impairment, and internship opportunities for students in pursuit of relevant degrees.
