AAH's Mission Statement: WE PROVIDE COMFORTABLE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO END HOMELESSNESS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH A DISABILITY. OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED BY PROFESSIONAL STAFF, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS WHO SHARE THE EXPERIENCE OF THOSE WE SERVE. OUR SERVICES ARE DELIVERED IN A CARING, RESPECTFUL AND EFFICIENT MANNER THAT ADDRESSES THE WHOLE PERSON; BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT.We strive to maintain a person centered approach to support; using encouragement, instructions and service referrals to guide our residents to a more fultilling and independent life. AAH began in 1989 as the hope of a homeless, mentally ill man. His dream has become our reality. We aim to solve each person's problems in the most personal and compassionate manner, always working toward stabilizing lives and alleviating any suffering. We are proof that supportive housing promotes stability, wellness and recovery, continuity of services and supportive relationships. The individuals we serve demonstrate daily their ability to maintain themselves in an independent living environment. Ours – are houses with a heart. AAH of Bergen County, Inc. is a non-profit organization incorporated to develop and operate permanent supportive housing for homeless adults and families. Many of the people we serve have a serious mental illness as well as another disability. We own and operate five state licensed residences which house 21 men and women. We also provide case management services to more than 54 adults who live in single apartments through the Bergen County community. Our success can be seen in the positive changes in the lives of the men and women we work with on a daily basis. Check out our website at www.aahbergen.org for more information.
