Thai Binh Checel started tutoring younger kids when she was a junior at Culver City High School. She has a Bachelor's of Arts in English from UC Berkeley, a Master's in Public Policy with a focus on educational policy from UCLA and a multi-subject teaching credential. She has five years of classroom experience in third and fourth grades and over 25 years of tutoring grades two through college, including students with special needs, learning differences, and gifted students. In addition to test prep for the SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, SCAT, SAT and ACT, Thai and her tutors see kids on a regular basis for homework help, reading comprehension enhancement, math, and assisting kids with learning differences. Thai also consults with parents on on how to make an academic plan for their students as well as advising on K - 12 placement in independent schools. After years of hard work and with the help of her gifted tutors, Thai has independently published three ISEE test prep books that are available on Amazon. Thai's mission is to make school less stressful and to help kids understand the power of hard work and tenacity. Thai sees students in her office on Olympic Blvd near Sawtelle. The talented Abacus tutors travel to students' homes throughout Los Angeles and work with kids on test prep (ISEE, HSPT, SSAT, SCAT, ACT, SAT and SAT subject tests), academic assistance, educational enrichment, foreign language and beyond.
