The new Abbey Retreat Centre is a A Centre of Excellence in Whole Person Care & Integrative Cancer Programs.Our focus is on engaging in a process of healing and advancing integrative cancer care in Canada.Abbey Retreat Centre has embarked on a made-in-Haliburton innovative program for persons living with the chronic disease of cancer. This holistic approach to the cancer journey views that journey from diagnosis to survivorship to end of life through the lens of person and family care. ARC presents programs of wellness and healthy living leading to self-care management. We believe that Health Care should be innovative and integrative with collaboration in all areas.ARC offers programs in a beautiful rural Haliburton setting for persons and their support people for a 4 day residential experience building on the conventional cancer care plans through modalities of care that strengthen the wellness and healthy living experiences that benefit all people living with a chronic disease. All practitioners of the programs are experts in their fields. Embracing the wellness and healthy living mantra, they support each person at their particular place on the cancer journey with program modalities including: nutrition, meditation, yoga, creative expression and discussion groups among other modalities. Our vision is to be an internationally recognized Haliburton centre of excellence for persons living with cancer. Through partnership with the Patterson Institute for Cancer Care Research, The Ottawa Integrative Cancer Care Centre (OICC) and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), ARC aims to develop and advance integrative care.
