Founder, Abraham Obeid left Syria in the early 1900s to seek asylum in America. He attended night classes at Meyers High-school in Wilkes-Barre before opening the original Abe's Hot Dogs Restaurant on Barney Street. This is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Wilkes-Barre, and is currently owned by Abe's grandson, William.
