We believe in the power of education as the key to gender and sexual equality, freedom and respect. We turn queer activism into creative initiatives to teach communities about our rainbow identities. We stand for LGBTQ+ love and acceptance in India and beyond. अबNORMAL is pronounced as ab-normal. In Hindi अब/ab means "from now on." We believe that every identity should be celebrated and regarded as normal. For the activities of our organisation we mainly work with the courageous and inspiring transgender communities in India. Transgender people around the world have always been on the frontline in the fight for gender and sexual equality. Yet they are still one of the most disenfranchised groups in the LGBTQ+ community. We believe there is no more time for excuses. It is time for change and we are at the heart of this transformation. Our initiatives aim to foster awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in Indian society through different means and strategies. Education has consistently been the centre objective in all of these efforts. Our work includes photo series and exhibitions on the transgender communities in Mumbai and teaching manuals for sensitisation workshops for primary and secondary schools. We believe that education is everywhere, not just in the classroom. That is why we support all initiative that spark discussion and education about gender and sexual freedom in their own creative ways.
