The Abraham Lincoln Center for Character Development at Lincoln College was founded on Lincoln's birthday, February 12, 2003 as a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide character development training, measurement and evaluation services and community coalition-building support to families, schools, business, communities and other organizations throughout the state of Illinois. The ALCCD aims to be a catalyst and resource center for character development so that core ethical values, which form the basis for good character, are effectively taught, promoted, supported and modeled by individuals, families and community organizations and to be a national leader in this endeavor. Our mission is to foster character development in families, schools, and community organizations by providing training, resources, and technical assistance to character development initiatives throughout the state of Illinois and nationally. In 2018, the ALCCD partnered with Lincoln Elementary District 27 to hold an all-day character retreat entitled "Be Excellent to Each Other." Themes of building empathy and valuing others were emphasized at this very successful retreat. For more information on how the ALCCD can bring character retreats to your school, or to find out more resources on how Abraham Lincoln exemplified tremendous character, visit https://alccd.lincolncollege.edu or call 217-735-7295 or e-mail rkeller@lincolncollege.edu.
