Millions of Americans can't vote as a result of how elections are run -- and just 80,000 voters decided the outcome of the 2016 presidential race. These problems aren't felt equally across communities: for too long, communities of color have faced systemic barriers to the ballot. The good news is that registration problems, voting machine breakdowns, long lines and other polling place issue that block access to voting are solvable, if we start now. Access Democracy is a project of The Leadership Conference Education Fund. Together, Access Democracy and The Education Fund work to protect the right and ability to vote, by improving how elections are run at the local level. Complementing the litigation and legislative work of national, state and local voting rights organizations, Access Democracy focuses on the challenges voters face when they go to vote. Because the fight for voting rights doesn't stop at the polling place door.
