Achilles International-Connecticut Chapter is a not-for-profit organization that partners able-bodied guides with athletes with disabilites in mainstream road races in Connecticut and around the country.Headquartered in New York City, and with Chapters around the world, Achilles has been a presence in the state of Connecticut since the late 1980's, when it was founded at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare by Robin Griskus, in honor of her late husband and Achilles athlete, Pat Griskus.Our mission is to enable people with all types of physical, emotional, and developmental disabilities, as well as medical conditions, to participate in mainstream athletics in order to promote personal achievement, enhance self esteem, and lower barriers to living a fulfilling life.
