The main objective of ACI Malta is to be regarded within the business community, media and financial services industry as the leading association representing the interests of the international financial markets, and to actively promote the educational and professional interests of the markets and the industry. Local members are active players in the domestic foreign exchange market and are all employed by the local credit and financial institutions. ACI Malta - The Financial Markets Association was set up on 14th June 1995 on the initiative of the Central Bank of Malta and was accepted as a member of the Association Cambiste International (ACI) - The Financial Markets Association in January 1998. The parent association was founded in France in 1955 following an agreement between foreign exchange dealers in Paris and London. In the years that followed, other associations were formed and there are now affiliated financial markets associations in more than 60 countries and individual members in another 17 countries with a total of more than 12,000 members.
