We provide the full range of psychological services needed by schools in order to meet their responsibilities and obligations arising from the new Code of Practice of Special Educational needs.The new Code emphasises:-Schools' responsibilities for decision making and resourcing in relation to additional and special provision-The need for schools to obtain external specialist support where children are not making sufficient progress-That Local Authorities are required to use existing reports as the basis for Education, Health and Care Plans, rather than commission their own as at presentFocusOur specialist staff focus work on a wide range of matters including:-Learning, including general and specific difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia-Speech, language and communication skills-Autistic Spectrum Disorders-Social, emotional and behavioural development-Special educational needs that arise from medical conditions and other aspects of physical development including e.g. dyspraxia-Sensory impairments-Staff support-Staff development and trainingActivityWe work in a variety of ways depending on the specific needs of schools and their pupils, and with children at all stages within the Code of Practice including those with statements. We are able to:-Undertake group and individual therapeutic work-Work with parents-Undertake specialist psychological assessments and subsequent action planning-Contribute to multi-agency working-Advise on approaches to the identification and assessment of children's needs by school staff-Offer consultation and advice about provision for groups of children and for individuals-Support the development of a sufficient range of effective provision for children's additional and special needs-Undertake a variety of research work
