ActiveCaptain is the interactive cruising guidebook for boaters. ActiveCaptain provides online access to many thousands of marina, anchorage, local knowledge, and hazard markers using maps, satellite imagery, and nautical charts. Our data is updated by users and verified by our staff to maintain high quality and accuracy.Each marina marker tracks over 100 items (navigation, dockage, fuel, services). Marinas, anchorages, and hazards have reviews/comments detailing the personal experiences of our users. As of 2015, we have hundreds of thousands of users accessing our data from our website and from a variety of navigation and chartplotter products. We have the largest database of marina data available anywhere as well as the largest and best database of anchorages in the world. We have more reviews for marinas and anchorages than any other website and more hazard warnings than the Coast Guard has in LNM reports.In 2010, other companies started using the ActiveCaptain data in their marine electronics products. We expect the reach of our data to expand as this continues. Today there are 30 shipping products that license our data with more than 20 others in development.In November, 2013 we released the ActiveCaptain Companion, a set of apps for Windows, Mac OSX, Android, and iOS. It has some unique features that use the ActiveCaptain data and eBoatCards relationships in new and exploratory ways.In May, 2013 we released eBoatCards.com, a new social navigation website for boaters. eBoatCards further extends the interaction between boaters in ways that are on the leading edge of technology and social media.We plan to continue the expansion of our capabilities to provide even more for boaters who cruise on their boat. As the internet moves onto the helms of these boats, we see tremendous opportunity in providing services and data and helping to fulfill the promise of a connected boating community.
