ACTS XXIX is a 501 (c)(3) Catholic ministry founded to help get God's world back and to mobilize the Church for mission. Our name comes from the New Testament book the Acts of the Apostles, which has 28 chapters. The book ends with St. Paul under house arrest in Rome, still boldly preaching the Gospel. According to Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron, "Luke ends without finishing the story because the story of the Church's mission continues in every age. We are living the 29th chapter of Acts!"We unleash the power of the gospel and equip ordained and lay leaders with our three essential principles to mobilize the Church for mission.ACTS XXIX was founded by Fr. John Riccardo in 2019 in response to the Archdiocese of Detroit's Synod 16 call to Unleash the Gospel. ACTS XXIX has brought more than 2,500 priests on retreat throughout the country and is working with more than a dozen bishops and dioceses. We operate from the biblical principle, "freely [we] have received, freely [we] give (cf. Mt. 10:8), and so our ministry is free of charge. In August 2022, we will launch The Rescue Project, a free eight-week video or live experience that proposes a biblical way of seeing reality. Most significantly, why is there something rather than nothing? Why is everything so obviously messed up? What, if anything, has God done about it? And how should I respond if He has? The Rescue Project is ideally offered in small group communities, including parishes, homes, schools and workplaces. As one of our patrons, St. Joan of Arc, quipped, "I am not afraid. God is with me. I was born for this." We are not alive right now by chance. God has created us for this moment.
