Development of biotechnology of production of ecologically compatible standardised raw materials of medicinal plants as exemplified by Rhodiola rosea.Plants have a long selection cycle and an uncontrollable contents of biologically active substances (BAS). What complicates industrial production of medicines. Rhodiola rosea is a valuable medicinal plant. It is antioxidant, antidepressant and anticarcinogenic. It stimulates the central nervous system. We have produced micro clones of Rhodiola rosea with a high content of BAS. Later, these samples can be maintained in culture, grown up in a hydroponic hothouse or in fields, converted into a cell culture and grown up in a bioreactor. Conversion of Rhodiola rosea into culture has great prospects both for industrial production of standardised medicinal raw materials, and for preservation of this rare plant in nature.
