AddVolt is a technology based company that tackles markets where there is a high potential for diesel costs reduction through the generation of solar and kinetic energy, while other secondary savings are generated (e.g. maintenance). AddVolt's vision is to implement a - "cloud for energy" - and to be an energy provider for transportation companies in a more sustainable and ecological way. Currently, heavy duty vehicles (HDVs) are equipped with transport refrigeration units (TRU) which are powered by dedicated Diesel engines. AddVolt came up with a killer value proposition with low risks for companies, the WeTruck. The technology uses energy from sun and the energy recovered during slowdowns to supply the refrigeration unit in electrical mode, hence reducing the need for a dedicated Diesel engine. The WeTruck can solve one of the biggest challenges of transportation industry, playing an active role in the future cities. In total, WeTruck is estimated to save 329 Mkg of C02 emission and reduce Diesel consumption by 125 Mlitres annually in EU (reaching 15% of the EU market) with a disruptive solution that introduces a new approach to energy management. WeTruck aims to transform the operations of refrigerated road transport globally.
