The Arts and Technology Program at Kwhite Studios is aware that the increase in computational power and the availability of new programming tools such as Scratch can help break down economic and opportunity barriers that previously existed. Computer programming and the creative freedom that it brings can be made available to everyone. We also believe that adding Art to STEM to create the acronym STEAM is vitally important to the success of our youth in today's educational, cultural and economic systems. As a teacher I believe that the Visual Arts is connected to every aspect of our society, cultures and daily lives. Music, science, math and art are all collaborative and interchangeable in today's society. Students can design and create presentations, games, animations, and inventions that make use of their creative problem solving skills. This can be done with free software that is widely available on the internet. I have experience working with various open source software such as: Blender, Pure Data, HTML 5, Java Script, Unity 3D and Scratch.
